Restart

Blue screen of the computer cast its cold light over the darkness of the office. First thoughts try to recall the last pressing of a shortcut for saving the file. A panic fear of how much hours of work were lost. Thoughts as dark as midnight, which promptly approaches, and there's me. Slowly aiming my keyboard-weary finger towards the reset button. At this time of night, the finger resembles an eagle claw more than a human body part. The screen flashes, obligatory computational pleasantries that I never really understood appear. And there - the system wakes up into a brand-new computer morning. Fresh, swift, restarted. If I could only do the same, I sigh and begin to count the casualties.

Our studio is like a device, a computer that sometimes require a restart. It works with precision and efficiency - but once in a while it freezes and a restart is needed.

The architect's work is not an easy one. It contains various operations that have to be done on the road from a design to reality. Many of them have little to do with creativity. Our work absorbs many professions and sometimes I feel like someone from an entirely different field.

One can easily forget his original intentions in this intricate system. That's why it's crucial to find enough time for yourself. Enough time not to loose the thread and stay on the track, we have chosen at the start. This is why we need to be able to stop and time after time define what kind of a studio we aspire to be.

We have established our office right after school and went a long way in these past ten years. Many times we had stumbled and had to rise up. Many times we had to restart our computer to realize who we are and where are we headed. Just as a broken bone becomes stronger having healed, so we too learn with each restart and become stronger and more experienced than before.

After few years we have a new workplace, new visual identity, new website but, most of all, a great team that shares our thoughts, enthusiasm and has our back. We still know our dreams, still we aspire to be the astronauts of architecture that we were. We have only adjusted our goals and it seems that this time we might just fly further then we have ever imagined.
