The Forest Villa

Him: Autumn is coming. Leaves flying around and the morning fog often floats through the woods until dark. Here and there the fog tears apart, and wads of white cotton let the sun rays through coloured tree sky. Winter is coming and mirage of the sun won't warm frozen hands . But who would stay at home... Mosquitoes have given up and are holed up somewhere and our dogs are hiding in the hallway... well you brought us up :) Today I use the last chance to cuddle with my motorbike. I'm buffing chrome and brushing carb, looking forward to annoy the neighbours again, bubbling - pata-puty-pata-puty...

She: I bake a plum cake today. I like the sweet smell of baked plums with butter. I always look forward for the fall. I feel peaceful melancholy. Trees dangle in the wind as the dancers at the end of disco and I'm drinking tea and looking through the windows how everything changes. I love the peace. I prepare a special lunch. It's just three months since we moved in. In the afternoon I'll unpack the last few boxes. I have so much women's junk, but fortunately there's my biggest closet in the world. Well, actually, I think it will fit :)

Them: This is our home. Fitted in between trees as an old polypore. And here we are as small mumins living and enjoying the dreamy views to the forest.

The forest villa is situated on the edge of a large floodplain forest near Prague. Clients chose an amazing place situated near the village. The village historically served as a source of labor for the imperial forests. The environment of the house was our main inspiration. While the organic shape of the roof interweaves through the trees, the lower rational section was designed primarily for the fascinating views of the forest.

The roof creates covered spaces between both houses and in their recesses. The front ceiling accentuates the outdoor environment and enhances the contrast between outdoor and the interior that permeates the exterior in unified wooden ceilings.

The roof covers two main volumes. The first hides a studio, a guest area and a garage. The second volume is a family house. In the lower part there is a generous living area with living room, kitchen, study and bedroom of parents. Children's rooms, the only volumes exceed the roof, are situated upstairs. The children's rooms are identical. Each has its own sanitary facilities and a small dressing room.
