The Cheeky house is an answer to the question of building on a complicated site while creating a prime contemporary home. Two nearby opposite facades facing the site pose an obstacle within the context of czech building regulations. The house overcomes this by an elegant, tower-like form, with the required distance from each of the facades. The building completes the street front and enriches local urban texture with a new typology. Ground floor of the house is shielded by an enclosed patio. A cosy and private yard for outside leisure and barbecues with friends. Large windows connect the patio to the space of the living room and kitchen.
A spiral staircase connects the entire house. It allows one to the first floor with master bedroom concealed with a wall. From here one can enter a spacious terrace above the entrance of the house. The terrace is in a way in anti-thesis of the patio. It is open and provides a good view of the street and the surroundings. On the second floor there is a bathroom with a sauna and a small balcony, where the sweaty saunee can catch some air. The uppermost floor has two children's rooms. The fascinating view from the nine meters of height more then compensates for their rather economical size. The cheeky house is a way of meticulously, yet courageously, navigating the rough waters of czech building legislation, while turning the apparent limitations into qualities.
